Van Courses (off the job)

What is a courier?

"Couriers are distinguished from ordinary mail services by features such as speed, security, tracking, signature, specialization and individualization of services, and committed delivery times, which are optional for most everyday mail services. As a premium service, couriers are usually more expensive than usual mail services, and their use is typically restricted to packages where one or more of these features are considered important enough to warrant the cost."

Why get the qualification?

Standards in the NVQ are relevant to the day to day work of the same day courier. They are widely recognised by the courier industry and valued by employers seeking new couriers.

There are 10,000 couriers working for only a few hundred courier companies! You NEED to stand out in this day and age. Once you have completed the course you have a qualification that NEVER runs out!

What will I have do during the course?

The course lasts 13 weeks. There will be around eight of you on each course.

The course divides into three main areas:

What is an NVQ?

The NVQ is made up of a number of units. To get the full NVQ you must be assessed as competent in all of the units. You can do them one at a time. You can choose not to do them all. You will get a certificate for the whole NVQ or for the individual units you take. A brief summary of the units is given below.
